Their purchasing power is enormous. Your future success depends on winning them over. How well do you know them?

You might think of them as the tech generation. They’re the folks who said in a survey they’d give up their sense of smell before saying goodbye to their smartphone. They are “The Millennials,” and, at 100 million strong, they’re the largest generation in U.S. history. They are also among the most coveted. Their purchasing power is estimated at more than $200 billion. According to one study, they influence as much as half of all spending in the economy. They’re the children of the Baby Boomers, an enigmatic young group that has already gone through several collective descriptions, having been dubbed everything from Generation Y to Echo Boomers to the Net Generation. Only recently have demographers seemed to settle on terming them “Millennials.” Experts still differ on time frames that bind the group, though the consensus that’s forming seems to hold that Millennials are those born between 1985 and 2004. In other words, if a consumer is currently between the ages of 7 and 26, he or she is a Millennial. If they’re not your customers now, they will be — if you’re successful. They are nothing less than the key to the long-term survival of your business. Do you really know what makes them tick?

The DMA International ECHO Awards Competition honors the world's best direct marketing campaigns — campaigns that have raised the bar in terms of strategy, creativity and results. Outstanding creative is necessary to win a coveted ECHO and is one of three required qualities. Award recipients must also have superb marketing strategy and excellent results. ECHO is unique among international competitions because no other awards competition looks at the direct marketing discipline in such totality.

The elite group of entries was carefully reviewed by some of the top marketers and creative professionals in the direct marketing field to determine the ultimate ECHO Winners, Leaders and Finalists in 12 business categories.

Each year, over 1,000 marketers and agencies submit campaigns for consideration. QuantumDigital competed in the Business and Consumer Services category for its accomplishments and excellence in its 2011 Marketing Innovation & Discovery Summit campaign.

Integration of digital technologies with direct mail makes print a powerful part of marketing communications for QuantumDigital

The Xerox Best-of-the-Best Contest honors organizations that through innovation and results-generating applications truly showcase the capabilities and potential of Xerox digital printing equipment. Winners were selected based on business results, image quality, and use of Xerox technology.

QuantumDigital’s “2011 Marketing Innovation & Discovery Summit” event promotion campaign was chosen by a panel of judges to win an award in the direct marketing category. The campaign also earned QuantumDigital the Printers’ Choice award, which is voted on and chosen by industry peers.

The 2011 Marketing Innovation & Discovery Summit campaign was a highly personalized, multi-touch, cross-media campaign to attract executives and leaders of top agencies and retail brands to attend its Marketing Innovation and Discovery Summit. Using XMPie® PersonalEffect® cross-media software and a Xerox iGen4® EXP Press with a Xerox FreeFlow® Print Server, QuantumDigital produced 1:1 postcards, emails, a poster, and invitation booklets with personalized URLs and QR codes. Together with a highly targeted list and carefully timed follow-up calls, these fueled a conversion rate of 33%, which maximized attendance at this high-level summit and helped bring in $90,000 of new business within one week.
